Australian rugby star fired by Japanese club after drugs arrest

Previous Australia rugby association global Blake Ferguson has been terminated by his Japanese club without playing a game subsequent to being captured in Tokyo on drug charges, the group said.

The 31-year-old was “captured on doubt of having illicit medications”, NEC Green Rockets Tokatsu said in an explanation which was subsequently refreshed to say his agreement had been ended.

Ferguson, a wing who was delivered by Australian National Rugby League group Parramatta Eels in September, had been planned to make his rugby association debut in Japan this end of the week when the new first class club season starts.

Ferguson did the change to the 15-a-side game when he was endorsed in November by the Japanese club, whose overseer of rugby is previous Wallabies mentor Michael Cheika.

Ferguson played in excess of 200 NRL games for the Cronulla Sharks, Canberra Raiders, Sydney Roosters and Parramatta.
